You Are What You Take In

Your body, mind and energy are shaped by what you take in. Everything you consume becomes you.

The food we eat, the way we think, our emotions, and all the external stimulation we take in, all gets absorbed into our cells.

It defines our vibration.

Food is the fuel for your being. We all know healthy eating promotes healthy well-being. Let's look at this from the Yoga and Ayurvedic perspective.

Pure foods are called Sattvic foods. These foods promote clarity of mind and are light on the body. They are high vibrational foods like, fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, and ghee.

Stimulating foods are called Rajasic foods. These foods increase restlessness and can create too much heat in the digestive system, causing Pitta dosha to become imbalanced. Rajasic foods are things like excessive spicy food, excessive caffeine or alcohol, and fried foods.

Dull foods are called Tamasic foods. These foods can lower your vibrational energy. This refers to things like junk and processed foods, old or stale foods, and heavy foods. Regular use of excess alcohol becomes tamasic because it lowers your vibration.

In Ayurveda we talk about gut health all the time. Your gut is your second brain because your gut bacteria and microbiome have a direct influence on your thoughts and emotions. This is why Yogi's gravitate toward Sattvic foods. Sattvic foods support a focused and calm mind. Junk and processed foods have a negative effect on things like anxiety, lethargy and brain fog.

Now let's talk about what we take in through all forms of media, music and external stimulation. Remember we are sensory beings and we must protect our intake of sensory stimulation. Negative news, violence, toxic conversations or content of any kind fills the mind with fear, anger and negative emotions. This has a serious impact on your health. These things actually alter brainwaves and can have negative effects on moods, behaviors and overall wellbeing. Uplifting music, books, mantras, affirmations, and positive surroundings help to expand our consciousness. We must protect our mental space and treat it like our most treasured thing. It's like a diet for the mind.

We also need to be mindful of the energies that we don't see. They have a way of creeping in. If we aren't careful they can reek havoc on our entire wellbeing. We absorb the energies of our surroundings, both people and places. Start to pay attention to people and places that elevate you. These have higher vibrations. Also, pay attention to people and places that drain your energy or make you feel uncomfortable. Once we recognize this, we can protect ourselves.

Try a digital detox!

Constant scrolling causes mental agitation and distraction.

Social media addiction is a dopamine hijack.

Low quality content is literally mental pollution.

If we align our consumption with high quality vibrations we can move into a more peaceful state of mind and life.

  1. Choose sattvic foods

  2. Manage your consumption of sensory stimulation

  3. Manage your energy by surrounding yourself with high vibrational people and places.

Try simple detoxes to help raise your frequency.

  1. Eat just fruits and vegetables for a day to reset the body.

  2. Try a digital fast for a day to reset the mind.

  3. Try a day to go within instead of seeking external stimulation. This will reset your energy.

The cleaner the input, the more elevated the output.

Remember, your vibration becomes your reality.

You can choose where you want to put your energy and how you high you want to vibrate!
